Re: Xmas sales? info?
Mon, November 14, 2005 - 7:47 AMThere are several sales going on.
The only problem with some of them is that they cost $$$$$ a lot to showcase your stuff, making it very difficult to have a profit.
ex: Fashion Co-Op costs aprox $400 a booth per sale event........
Wow!!!!!
Maybe we should organize a sale event........??????????!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tue, November 15, 2005 - 10:07 AMMichele, I like the idea of organizing a sales event... perhaps invite all LA Tribesters to come purchase crafts made by LA tribesters.

Re: Xmas sales? info?
Wed, November 16, 2005 - 11:58 AMalso, what about the idea of kiosks at craft fairs and malls... group business... i was at century city mall there, and some of the kiosk stuff there is bland... husbands buying their wives kiosks to give them something to do all day... i mean, i saw ceramic ornaments on a ribbon, fer chrissakes... maybe we could come up with something. -

Re: Xmas sales? info?
Wed, November 16, 2005 - 12:23 PMI agree with you. There is a lot of people out there that haven't yet got the fact that the world is changing exponentially........
There is a lot of stuff out there that is beyond lame, but the kiosks are so expensive..........
I have other ideas in mind..........
Still brainstorming them, but I think they are feasable for next year.
But for the remain of this year..........live in the now, you know.....
What are we doing?
Suggestions
rent a space for a day or 2, have a company come and set up tables, like banquet kind.........charge the vendors the fair price of the whole shabang.
Or, I suggest that we go together and brainstorm to these other sales, which are quite unique and very well organized, but cost and arm....
fashion co op. Nov 19th
Red CArpet I think happened already, but they did it in a room at the Roosevelt hotel.
I have to look for the links, but they actually have a cash register accepting credit cards, and cash only. As a vendor, you ticket your merchandize with a number that is only yours. people take the ticket, pay for it and come back to get their stuff. At the end of the day you go to the cash register and get your $$$$$$ less the comission, which is usually 30%.
Vendors are required to charge wholesale prices.
the organizers, charge the sales tax, so as a vendor you don't have to think about the sales tax, or credit card commissions etc.
I went to one done at Smashbox studios.
So.......what do you say??????
Anyone out there interested??????? -

Fri, November 25, 2005 - 4:24 PMinterested!
also - since christmas is around the corner and a lot of us - ok, me - are going out of town, let's also not forget that valentines day and is fairly soon, followed by mother's day.
i'm game for some kind of vendor/fair thing for those. we'llhave more time and might just have a bigger turnout than christmas, where people are inundated with this kind of thing.
any ideas on pricing?
i think that the hollywood ymca might be game to hosting something like this relatively cheaply - and we'll have built in shoppers!
all good stuff,

YMCA sounds good to me, also across from us.......they take donations....
Valentines is still a couple of months away.......

Re: Xmas sales? info?
Sat, November 26, 2005 - 8:34 AMok let's do it!
i say Dec 17 and Dec 18, mornings from 10am-1pm. If we find some food vendors, maybe we can have food for sale, and just get coffee for attendees.
I really think we call this an official "Tribe supports Tribe" sale... orient it towards tribe members to come buy stuff made by fellow tribe members. That way we can include Crafty Vixens Pro members, might even get some bay area people.
I think this project needs a project manager and some task leaders: one for venue/location, one for coordinating with tribe, one for getting participating vendors, and one for marketing to tribe [free ads and postings and stuff, possibly to be coordinated with tribe]. the project manager would develop a project plan based on info from task leaders and help coordinate that each task stayed with the original project plan. three weeks to event seems do-able, but we do need a project plan like NOW.
project plan criteria:
objective: we have a few choices here. my ideal is to develop the first [of many] seasonal "tribe supports tribe" events. don't need to make money for organizing it, but we do want participating vendors to be able to make money. if the venue/location requires money, we will have to raise funds from vendors. we want to develop a basic "tribe supports tribe" event format that could be repeated in other popular tribe locations, such as SF. vendors make decent amount of money and add significantly to their email database. this event would not be exclusively tribe, but that would be a main goal [to attract tribe members].
Then, we could repeat this again for V-Day, say, around feb 11-12 and/or at evening club events.

Re: Xmas sales? info?
Sat, November 26, 2005 - 9:08 AMOOlala!!!!!! This is fun!!!!!!
Ok, so who wants to be who?
I saw on one of your tribes...I think the vixens pro, a girl that had made a postcard for etsy with a blank space for each vendor and divided the expense.......I thought it was a good idea. I think she got 5000 for 150 dls.. Just a thought in the marketing arena....
I say if the date is good, now we need the location. Once we have that the rest will fall into place believe me!
We need a big place with parking lot. And maybe covered in case it rains...
I'm not into charging a lot of $$$$$ but I think that a donation will be a good thing, to pay for the marketing, the space, etc....
So much to think about.....but hey, I think we can do it!!!!!!!!
